I was thinking that if the rear wheel don't bend on a pot hole it's going to be the skewer ? Or the frame? Or the tire goes pop?

How in God's name do you bend a skewer without bending or even breaking the axle??

I've bent a skewer on one of my bikes - just makes it a bit harder to get in and out than when its straight. I didnt bother replacing it and it's not broken yet ! No idea how it happened.

Outside of axle failure I imagine you could only bend one when it isn't being used to secure a wheel. Taking the thing out then dropping it on the garage floor and standing on it accidentally for instance.
