Pro cycling is dead to me. I have much more respect for people like Mark Beaumont.0

Would have been a good troll if not so soon after the 'ride like this' and other threads...
Too predicable so 0/10 I'm afraid!0 -

A very much too obvious attempt at pointless stirring.
In my very inexperienced opinion, I thought he was a worthy winner. His speeches at the beginning, crossing swords with Sue ("no, Susan") Barker, and at the end, where his personality and style really did come through, were funny without being crass, and in acknowledging the team effort, I thought he came over as accomplished but still genuine.
The moment that really stole the night for me was Martine Wright. No autocue for her, afaict, just an assured, confident speech that in a matter-of-fact way seemed to sum up the summer. I always feel guilty confessing that the paralympics doesn't really do it for me, but to Ms Wright, chapeau.
Loved the way Laura Trott bigged up Sarah Storey, though, in reference to her TT ability.
All in all, I thought they were all a bloody nice bunch. Including Seb Coe, whatever people say about him. Just slightly disappointed Mo Farah didn't come third. Fair play to Murray, though, I guess people are starting to like him a bit.Is the gorilla tired yet?0 -

Wasn't too happy about Jessica Ennis... although she did win a brilliant gold, she passed on the chance to win a second in the 100 hurdles, a decision which I don't understand. She was already done with the heaptatlon and she should have had a go... an athlete's careeer is too short to miss opportunities like that.
Michael Phelps at the end of his career and not at his best still managed to go for 6 events... why limit yourself to one if you can win two?
Mo Farah should have been the runner upleft the forum March 20230 -

She was registered to compete in the 100 hurdles too... just after the gold she said she was tired. For me that's not good enough... I appreciate she was tired, but that's a once in a lifetime opportunity... she can do as she likes, but pulling out is just not good enough to get my vote. I am sure Phelps was tired too and so was Mo Farah.
She might not have another shot at the Olympicsleft the forum March 20230 -

That's what I was thinking. He won because he got more votes than anyone else.0 -
I completely agree. Sorry but a great sportsman does not make a great personality. I have tried to like Wiggo but he just annoys me. He looks ridiculous and he comes across as just naff. If he wasn't winner of the TDF & Olympic Gold nobody would give 3 chits about him.
Just look at him:
Mark Cavendish also annoys me. He sounds like he may be suffering from mild brain damage and appears to possess the personality of a pebble.
I honestly think Jessica Ennis should have won it because of her arse alone!!0 -

Yeah so apart from all the Olympic Gold medals and the first British TdF winner - whats Wiggins ever done for us eh ?......
I think cycling does seem to attract the moany gits of society.
Fantastic sporting year for him, and he's definitely a personality. And i won money cos he won it. A great result all round. :-)0 -
LOL, so predictable0

If she had taken part in the hurdles would she have been depriving another athlete of taking part? If so maybe she recognised that after the other events things would have been better for the team if she did not take part? No idea if this is the case but I could see the logic...
For me it was good to see Dave Brailsford and his coaching team get an award...0 -
Troll of the highest degree!!!
Wiggo has a personality. Totally deserved it. End of!!0 -

^^^ this.
Wiggos win was inevitable and Ennis did a good job but how the f**k did Andy *the miserable tw@t* Murray win an award for personality?
Mo Farrah was much more deserving.0 -
I suggest the Forum Administrators open a sub-forum specifically for Bustacrap and Captainslip. They can then troll each other (assuming they are not one and the same person) to their hearts' content.0

I agree, what a great idea. :roll:0 -
Thank god (or whatever) that wiggo does actually have a personality, unlike 95% of athletes these days. The problem is that the dedication and commitment it takes to succeed in contemporary professional sport means that most people who succeed don't have the time or social opportunities to develop a personality along the way - too many of them just seem like bland clones. It's one of the great things about cycling that for some reason, that seems to apply less than in many other sports and we do actually get winners who are fully formed 3 dimensional human beings.0

Just use your Friend/Foe tools in your account and be done with it. Sometimes it looks like some of you enjoy having the likes of El' Capitano around just to have to have some sport with. Feeding the troll is an understatement in those circumstances.
His profile says he is 36. After living that long one would expect some manners and and a little wisdom. Instead he creates the perception of an uneducated, arrogant bigot, attention seeking, seriously lacking in manners, where everyone else is wrong, a t*sser/tw*t/cnut/idiot/moron/insertoffensivedescriptorhere and he is just angry with everyone and everything in his life. The man has issues. Don't pour fuel on the flames I say.... but diz iz da inta-net dontcha no blud, uze can dooz dee tings on da inta-net!0 -
The saving grace with these negative troll types is that they almost always have a limited lifespan. Anyone seen P_Tucker recently? I would suspect he had mutated into one of our current crop, except that none of them are half as smart.0

I thought that too... which makes things worse... there is no room for niceness in sport... if you want to be a winner, you need to be selfish... the other athlete was not a serious contender for the medals anyway. Grab the chances when they come along... she'll soon find someone better than her and it will be game overleft the forum March 20230
