Okay so my bike was stolen at some point last night they crowbar into a locked communal bike shed and cut off my gold rated d lock. Anyway got to make my insurace claim Monday they have asked I provide A VAT registered trader’s estimate for the cost of repair/replacement. How do I get one of these its new for old so do the bike shop estimate the new cost? Has anyone had to get something similar?

The shop estimates the total value of the parts. I had Togo through this process a few months ago as my bike was a custom build. If it was a new bike that was bog standard, find a dealer and get a quote from them for the price of the bike new. Sometimes you have to pay a tender or so to get estimates, at least I had to because they had to source all info for the parts, but with a standard one it may be different.0
