Shimano Alfine Wheelset Horror!

Morning all,
Can anyone help with some advice?
I've recently noticed that the rim on my factory built Shimano Alfine wheel (WH-S500) is very worn, after getting over the shock of the rim having worn so quickly (it's approx. 3yrs old with brake pads changed every six months or so) I took the wheel to my excellent LBS. I was hoping they'd be able to rebuild the wheel with a new rim, however the replacement Shimano rim has been discontinued and because the wheel/hub is factory built and has 24 spokes they have so far been unable to find another rim that would be suitable.
Can anyone think of a suitable rim or have you encountered the problem yourself? I'm a little stuck at the moment, the bike is built to work with a hub gear, so I can't convert it to work with a standard derailleur. Am I going to have to buy a new hub and have a wheel built around it or replace it with another Shimano built wheel and face the same problem in a few years time?
NB: Planet X have the same wheelset on sale at the moment, there are plenty of photo's here:

Not a problem with Alfine as such, but a worn rim. I'd contact Madison UK.
Many other 24 hole rims would work, but the spokes will probably need changing.0 -

Cool, thanks for your help, I'll point the LBS in the direction of Madison.0

Depending on your mileage, 3 years for a rim used under all conditions isn't that bad.
As supersonic says, you can use any 24 hole rim to replace this, but depending on the depth may need new spokes (though these aren't especially expensive anyway).0 -
I'd say 3 is pretty good. I've got 2 out of my Mavic Aksium and the front is pretty much down to the wear indicators now. That's with lots of London stop/start commuting though.FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

How to get lost in a cup of tea... There are many 24 holes spokes... Not many cheap ones. You can get a pair of Velocity A23 for 100 pounds or so... They are wide enough to take tyres up to 35-38 and they are light enough to be a nice upgrade too.you might need new spokes too... 20 pounds for a set of double butted ACI Alpinaleft the forum March 20230
