A new game.
Find a song where the cover is better than the original: I'll go first;
Cameo: 'Word Up!'
Personally, I think KoRn's version is very slightly better than the original:

**If you are going to search for the original KoRn video at work - warning; it is a bit tasty!

I'll offer up three, but too lazy to scour YouTube for links:
I Fought the Law by the Clash (orig:Bobby Fuller Four)
Be Thanful For What You've Got by Massive Attack (William DeVaughn)
It's Oh So Quiet by Bjork (Betty Hutton)
(On a related note, Elis Costello's version of his song "Shipbuilding" pales into comparison with the first recording by Robert Wyatt, despite the presence of Chet Baker on the latter track.)Location: ciderspace0 -
Johnny Cash blew a few originals out of the water ie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGrR-7_OBpA and even https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGGSTiDOjKU.....on a related note Nick Cave covering Dylan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao0lyPjYQw0
Oh and Placebo - Running up that Hill, a lesson in less can be better (imvho)0 -
Banana Splits by The Dickies to kick off with.
And cos I'm a bit old skool I've always liked this version of We Will Rock You by Queen over & above the original, by Queen.0 -
Hi,
Bangles: hazy shade of winter... Shouldn't work but just does :-)
Cheers,

I'll see your Korn version and raise you the Gun version.
Original: Smokey Robinson - Crusin'
Cover: D'Angelo - Cruisin'
Maybe I like the D'Angelo version better because I heard it first?FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future
FCN 4: Planet X Schmaffenschmack 2- workhorse
FCN 9: B Twin Vitamin - winter commuter/loan bike for trainees

Vanilla Ice did a rocky version of Ice Ice Baby, re-named as Too Cold, on his third album called Hard To Swallow.
Sounds a lot like Korn/Limp Bizkit, etc. Ok, not a cover as such but a cover by the same artist!
T'is excellent.Specialized Allez Elite 2011 *NEW*
Specialized Sirrus Elite 20110 -
bob Dylan - all along the watch tower
better version obviously is Hendrix's
even Dylan think soKeeping it classy since '830 -
Ryan Adams version of Wonderwall is a step up in my opinion, I'm sure I read somewhere that Noel Gallagher thought so too.0

Wuthering Heights - China Drum
Ziggy Stardust - Bauhaus

Not sure this is 'cover' as it is a bit of a standard
Clapton/Cream - Crossroads“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Nirvana - The man who sold the world (originally Bowie)
awesome as acoustic
In the wake of this cover, Bowie bemoaned the fact that when he performed the number himself he would encounter kids that come up afterwards and say,David Bowie wrote:'It's cool you're doing a Nirvana song.' And I think, 'Fuck you, you little tosser!'
god bless you DaveKeeping it classy since '830 -
The Stranglers version of Walk on By.
Absolutely brilliant, but completely different to the original. I don't think you could say better as the original is also phenomenal. Other covers of it trying to copy the original are just pants.0 -

+1 - Of the three versions the Korn one is the worst one, the OP obviously has no taste!
Any cover version by Snuff:
I Think We're Alone Now
Do the Shake n Vac
If You Wanna Be My Lover
Reel Big Fish's version of Take On Me
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Every other cover of this is just terrible.
And seeing as its Christmas have some Little Drummer Boy0 -
TBH, the Gun version is great, but my 2 year old rocks out to the KoRn version...and Faith No More's Be Aggressive and that is pretty funny.
Agree with whoever put up the 'All along the Watchtower' - Hendrix's version steams over Dylans original.0 -

Original: Traditional Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Cover: DMX's Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
For context I've linked to the normal stuff that DMX does (picked at random as I can't stand his 'music' but probably NSFW): Whats My NameFCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future
FCN 4: Planet X Schmaffenschmack 2- workhorse
FCN 9: B Twin Vitamin - winter commuter/loan bike for trainees
