I like Tim Minchin, although I'd agree he's a humorous observationalist rather than an out-and-out joke-telling comedian. I don't agree with all his opinions but can still appreciate there's a sharp mind there and he has a way with words that I admire.
I have no problem with people not liking him. I think Vic Reeves is the unfunniest man alive but plenty of people love him. It's a personal choice. As for him being untalented... if you're a better songwriter, pianist, humorist or singer than him, please get yourself an agent, I'm sure we'd all love to see you on stage. He's certainly more talented than me and nearly everyone who thinks it's worth paying money to see him.
The reason Minchin wears eyeliner is that it makes it easier for the audience to see his facial expressions, which are important when he's stuck behind the piano. Being barefoot is part of his image.0
