Route mapping

As someone who only has a "thick phone" and no access to Strava, what are the best web sites that I can plan out routes or map training rides on, and see what I am actually doing mileage wise etc?
I did stumble upon one the other week, and like an idiot, didn't save it! I can't seem to find it again now
Maybe it was a trial or something?
Going out and buying a GPS device is not really an option at the moment.
Any suggestions?

I use www.bikehike.co.uk to map routes so I can see distance/hills. If it's complicated route, write out some basic directions onto a strip of masking tape and stick it to the top tube.0

I just use the 'add route' function on here (under training section). Shows cycle routes, mileage and elevation. Works great for me.Triban 30
