Hi

Got a free week in early March and looking for suggestions where to go.

Looking for quiet roads, some hills and mountains. Thought about inland from Alicante but wasn't sure if it would be warm enough that time of year.

Tenerife obviously. Any other ideas?

Thanks

Paul

The Canary Islands are the only place within a couple of hours flying with pretty much guaranteed good wheather that early. South Coast of Spain should also be a good bet. Anything else will be a bit if a gamble, can be nice or can e snow.
I've done a week in Gran Canaria, absolutely amazing cycling, particularly inland away from the major resorts

Thanks for the suggestions. So cold and fed up now that I think the Canaries are the way forward

The Algarve on the South coast of Portugal might well fit the bill. A great mix of flat and as many hills as you want. Temperatures are great for cycling Feb, March and April.

Get the timing right and watch a few stages of the Tour of Algarve.
  • All of those suggested above are good for cycling in March. Mallorca starts to get very busy with cyclists at that time of year, so if you plan on hiring a bike it's best to book in advance.

Alicante / Valencia are also good; a good amount of mountains and rolling routes. Also, there is almost no chance of snow at that time of year, and you may be able to tie it in so you can spend a couple of days in Valencia city at the end for the Fallas festival (highly recommended!)
