Garmin Edge 800 - Can I Turn it off?

Normally whilst out cycling, if we stop for a brew or bite to eat I always leave the device switched on which obviously then gives me two times when I download the ride to Strava. One for time spent cycling ( moving ) and the other for time from setting off until I get home and press stop. I wondered if I turned it off would it then treat the ride as separate rides when uploaded to Strava - I think it would? The reason I am asking is that we are doing LeJog in April and I am concerned about battery life - knowing my luck it would pack in with 20 miles still to go and we'd get lost!!!!

Fine to turn it off, it'll pick up where you left off provided you don't reset.

Start/Stop button, use at any time, stopping at cafe or just for a bite. You can also enable Auto Pause to save you having to press the stop button.
Lap/Reset button, press briefly at any time to start a new lap during a ride (so after pressing Start). At the end of your ride, press Stop to stop the ride, then press and hold Lap/Reset and the screen will count down 4, 3, 2, 1 - the unit finalises the ride and writes the data. You can't restart this ride, it is finalied.
Power button on the side briefly brings up a screen showing you battery level and backlight - use as little backlight as possible to increase battery life. Press and hold the power button to turn off at any time, mid ride or at the end, it makes no difference.
Hope that helps.Summer - Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 9.0 Team
