Wheel upgrade

I currently have a 2013 allez sport fitted with the standard wheels, I'm looking to upgrade the wheels as most say it's the best and cheapest way to improve my bike. I know nothing about wheels but looking to spend around £400 and keep my rear sora sprockets, ideally I want something lighter and something with a better race performance , I currently do around 60 miles per week mainly for fitness. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I spent £300 on the Shimano RS80 wheelset in January for my Allez. 7000km so far, 3 race wins. Infinitely better than the ALX wheels the bike came with.

There are hundreds of these articles on here already Most back the Mavic Ksyrium Elites for that sort of price though.

As i was advised with this question,its as important to get good tyres aswel as wheels as tyres can have a big effect on the ride.

I bought some almost 12 months ago and am very pleased. With a set of 25 mm Schwalbe Ultremo I find myself having to brake when many around me are still peddling downhill.

+1 - Upgraded to these in the summer - sound wheels.
