  • One that fits properly.

Nothing much wrong with what you've got, they are built to a minimum standard.

    Define 'terrible'.
I've used cheap Bells for years - cheap, fit me and my brain damage hasn't got any worse.

I have a cheap Bell Striker, does me fine got a nice scuff down the side where a clipped a tree so it's done it's job.
  • it just feels poorley made tbh. Doesnt come down far enough at the back and sides like i have seen on the fox ones and is slightly to big, not the helmets fault I know. So i have decided to get a new one for crimbo. Just after seeing what other people have choosen

Go into a shop and find one that fits and feels comfortable.

  • places like evens cycles have a discount on at the moment of 15% off with no min spend so their is some bargains to be had, also have a look at chain reaction cycles and rutland cycling

i got my helmet from evens cycles its the Bontrager Quantum, its "what mountain bike" value helmet
its rrp is £45 but evens cycles have it at £25 and then their is a extra %15 off so it was a total bargain.

its a great helmet and it fits brill, the pop lock system at the back of the head is great
  • All online. I'd try at an lbs and perhaps pay a little more

Go to shop, try one on, buy online if it's cheaper.

Or ask if the shop will price match the online retailer
  • The key to buying a helmet is you have to be "blind" to names and go with whatever fits properly.
  • thanks for the help, I was going to buy online as I now know I am a medium from trying a few on, thought they would be a stand out Favourite helmet for the masses, no worries thinking i like the look of the giro helmets
