Have been lurking for a bit and read lots of posts for my own choice and ended up with a Canyon Yellowstone AL 5.9 as my first bike.
Now we have to choose something for the Mrs, she tried a Cube Ltd 29er (Mens) today with 17 inch frame and it was perfect apart from the price tag, we really didnt want to go to 1000 Euro (we are in Germany btw).
I think 799 Euro is a good budget level and was looking at Radon 5.0 http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1275/a78454/zr-race-29er-5-0.html vs Cube Attention http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1275/a80144/attention-29-black-n-grey.html (or any others?).
The Radon comes in a 16 or 18 inch, I think the 16" will be OK vs the Cube 17" as the top tube length of both is more or less the same 565mm on the Radon vs 562mm on the Cube.
I'm not really familiar with all of the different components and which is better any thoughts on which to choose or any other alternative suggestions?

Of the two id get the Radon every time. Better fork and components! It seems, at the moment, there is little if anything to beat Radon bikes for Value.
Alternately you could go for this Canyon http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes ... ab-reiter2. Its just marginally lerss specced than the radon but does look nice!0 -
The Radon is better specced - superior fork, some better parts, lighter weight.0

Thanks for the confirmation! Getting a bit jealous of her actually, wish I'd ordered a Radon now.0
