While looking for a spare power link I notice they come in various 7/8/9/10 speeds. So quick question is, will a 9 speed link work on a ten speed chain....in an emergency or will I have to buy 10 speed link. (I have 9 speed links)

Comments

  • No. Correct speed needed, don't buy 10 spd SRAM ones as they are one use only

Oh jeez, wish I had heard that before ordering 5 the other day.

    5!? Presumably for many bikes?

KMC Missing Links are a better bet.

    Yeah 5 :?

I keep a spare set in most of my riding gear, and some at home as well. Had too many times where I have needed them.

Was out riding with my mate a while back and his chain broke (10spd). He had no kit with him, I only had 9spd powerlinks. It worked fine and is still going strong months on.
Not saying its ideal, but in this case, it worked fine.
Oh yeah, as others have said, KMC not SRAM for 10spd.
