paint rub on deore cranks

Quick one, I fitted new cranks and arms to my bike. After just one ride all the paint has rubbed off the arms, to the point that it's bare alloy. I was obviously expecting them to rub but thought that this was very quick? Or is this to be expected?

Yes, but not really after one ride.0

Yeah, the anthracite finish on the new Deore's are rubbish like that. My third lot have worn after a year or so but that's only because i make sure no part of my shoe touches them (laces need to be stowed away or they'll rub through in just a few rides). SLX, on the other hand, are brilliant for avoiding rub through.0

If you are using clippless peddles check the cleats alignment. They could force you shoes to rub on your cranks.
If you are using flats it could be the way that your feet sit on the peddles.
Get someone to watch you from behind as you peddle. If things don't look right, it would be a good idea to get yourself looked at. You could be storing up issues for later.
Also check your chain stays. I have known someone who as knackered a frame by wearing through the chain stays.0 -
Get the ones with silver crank arms - far less visible rub!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Or put heli tape on them.
Don't adjust your cleats unless they give you knee pain, if they scuff the cranks so be it (I do, and my stays).0 -
My shoes scuff my cranks (although the shoes come off worse :? ) - as njee20 says, as long as it works for you don't fiddle with them or you'll mess up your riding position and knacker your knees!!Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
