Was up there with the family at the weekend, and noticed that Tracs do mtb courses for ranges of abilities. Has anyone taken them up on these offers (£80 single day, £140 double day), any feedback / comments? Looking potentially to buy a course as a present for 13 year old who wants to make progress, and I'm too wimpy to help (and too inexperienced!).

I'll get in touch with them anyway to find out if they'd do that sort of thing, but thought I'd see if I could get some feedback from here first.

Thanks in advance!

Matt

  • If it was me I wouldn't be doing a course at Delamere.

Nothing against the chaps at Tracs or anything but I just think how can you teach something like MTB when your not really in a MTB place.

I would think you will be better going to Llandegla not to far away.

I went on a course with Ed Oxley (great Rock) this week near Hebden Bridge and it was really good. I can't speak about the guys at Delamere but Ed was really helpful, even in just half a day.

If I lived 5 minute from Llandegla, I'd find a course at Llandegla. Unfortunately, I live 5 minutes from Delamere, so given that I've got four boys and a wife to think of, convenience trumps perfection.

I was imagining that a MTB course would need to have just a few essentials which would then get practised / assessed / taught, rather than needing to be on the doorstep of a proper full-on MTB track.

Given that no-one has said "avoid like the plague, they don't know what they are talking about", I guess their setup is OK for what I'm after.

    Cheers!
