Hello,

Im looking to get a portable pressure washer to put in the car due to now living in a flat.

I currently use a garden pump up spray bottle but it doesn't have the volume of flow or capacity to make washing the bike quick and easy after a ride.

I planned to get the Nomad 12v for £129 but it appears the uk supplier are not able to quire any more.

http://www.nomad-direct.co.uk/index.php

Got this replay off them after enquiring about stock: "Sad to say that we bought up the worlds remaining stocks and last few were snapped up by a large utility company last week. Never say never, but it will be a very long time if at all."

Im now looking for the next best option, i certainly don't want to spend more than £129 as i was struggling to justify that.

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks

I've got the Mobi V-17 like this one:

Had it a couple of years with absolutely no problems at all. It's great for using after particularly muddy rides or during longer races.
  • Was thinking about getting one of those myself.

A couple of alternatives come to mind; a 12v circulation pump or submersible pump powered through either crocodile clips or cigar lighter connection, a waterproof switch and some hose plus spray nozzle. You could either carry a plastic jerry can or hope to find a water supply of location. Of course this would be 12v corded which is fine for me as I have a 110Ah leisure battery alongside my starter battery.

You could probably knock something up for around £30-50 with bits commonly available at a boat chandler or motorhome parts supplier.
  • I've had my dirtworker for about 3 years now and it works as new. The company now trade under the Nomad name and still make the same 2 versions either with or without a rechargeable battery - http://www.nomad-direct.co.uk/index.php ... s/c_7.html

Pretty good power and enough to clean off my mud caked race bike with ease.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

    +1 for Dirtworker.
  • Thanks for the replys.

The Dirt worker is now called Nomad and the only one available is the £220 18v version.

I looked at the Mobi 17 but the BikeRadar review seems not to rate it, Spending this much money i want something that will last.

Mobi is the other brand name I that I've heard of and get good reviews. otherwise ebay is your friend.

I have something similar, although not the same as this:
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-with-EMS-13L-12V-25W-portable-electric-car-washer-High-pressure-washing-machine-with/604396112.html

I just got a 5L water container from halfords and it does the job for me. If you use a brush and soap to loosen the dirt first then 5L is just about enough for 2 moderately dirty bikes otherwise if feeling lazy and just blasting dirt off using the water then 5L is only good enough for 1 bike.

I'm using a pump up fence sprayer (£3 from Wilko) and I modified the nozzle to give a 'chisel' jet. For 3 quid I'm happy filling it up with river water to give the bike a wash straight after a ride.

I tried one of the portable electric washers a couple of years ago at a race where they were demonstrating them. The ones they had were useless because the water jet was small and circular with hardly any pressure to it. If they had a better nozzle I would've bought one on the day.

Just something to watch out for when you're choosing.
