With the weather so bitterly cold at present, it's a wonder that anybody is even thinking about entering an early season sportive. However, over the past few days, there's been a surge of interest and bookings for the Exmoor Beauty. Approaching 600 riders are now signed up for the event (on April 21st.) and, with over 6 weeks still to go before the on-line entry system closes, a much bigger field - than last year's 700 plus - is now expected. Many of those who've already secured a place are from The Midlands and The Home Counties, so it looks like moving the event H.Q. to Tiverton is proving really popular.

Any idea when a map of the route will be available?

An overall view of the route is displayed on the event website's homepage. Circumstances have dictated that the complete route was only covered and the distance checked as recently as the day after your posting _andy. Full details will be available shortly and maps will be on display at the eve of the ride and on the day itself.

As an early season 'leg stretcher' that was a toughie! Almost on a par with the Beast. My garmin recorded nearly 2000m ascent and most of that was in the first half.

Some brutal hills; there was one in particular which seemed to have most people off their bikes and walking.

Good route on quiet roads and the NEG did a great job.

Really enjoyed this years ride. Far more enjoyable than last years leg burner.

This year the hill climbing was fantastic (maybe because I had put a 36 on my back wheel in preparation for this year!!) and just as the legs were getting tired and the hills became arduous and repetitive we had a great 20 mile run in at high speed to the finish.

Brilliant. Will be back next year

That's good to know. Coasting in Cornwall was similarly tough. Hopefully next year there won't be two 'local' events on the same day...
