Argh if only you was in Leeds. You should join a club mate alittle intimidating at first but you will find good people in them and make some good mates
  • yeah, think thats what i will do in the new year. cheers
  • I do all my cycling on my own and not far from you. I never get bored but then I talk to myself and the hours fly by :)

There are some good rides from Wakefield heading over toward Emley Moor/Huddersfield/Penistone and coming back under the M1 J38 and back passed Durkar

  • Can't help directly but a good run in your part of the world might be out to the Windmills cafe near to Penistone. about 15 miles one way. It is a popular place with cyclists. My own club (Ravensthorpe CC) has a regular Saturday run out there )(we normally arrive around 10am). Other clubs also often turn up on a Saturday morning. So there would be people to chat to and maybe cycle part of the way back with.
  • Windmills Cafe at the top of Millhouse Green? Lovely place that, I'm less than a mile from there :) from there a nice ride back is along to Penistone then up Renald Lane, through Cawthorne come out on Darton Road, Kexbrough, then under the M1 and up Haigh Lane (nice little climb :) )

I ride that route when visiting friends in Durkar and coming back I go through Midgley/Flockton then sometimes I come back through Shelley other times I carry onto NewMill then Jackson Bridge before heading for home
  • Yep the Windmills Cafe is on Whitley Rd near to Royd Lane. It's part of the garden centre and it is rare to visit without finding another cyclist there! Most of the riding around there is pretty good (especially if you like a hill or two).
