sugino octalink help

Just got some lovely looking sugino alpina 800/cospea cranks from chain reaction cycles but they don't seem to fit the recommended v1 octalink bb. The splines on the crankarm seem too big for the corresponding slots on the bb. It is definitely the road style bb, not the mtb one and they should fit. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas?

I have an old v2 mtb bb that i tried, and that doesn't fit either! I'm stumped on this one. These are the cranks-http://www.alexscycle.com/cranks/road-1-2-3-4-5-6/sugino-cospea-compact-drive-octalink.html0

I do not read the V1 Octalink being the recommended bottom bracket in the link you mentioned. It still is a puzzle to me why both systems do not match. Any irregularities in the splines of both systems?0
