Hello, would like some advice on which shoes, pedals and pump to get?

Shoes - need something sturdy that can take the wet really with the way the weather is. Was thinking of these, anyone agree or think should get something else? Also size wise, do I get my normal size or go 1 size higher?

Shimano AM41:

Pedal wise - do I go for the Superstar ones or the DMR V12's:

Pump wise - which one should I get that wins all the awards for doing the job the quickest and most reliable. Looking for one of the large standing ones.

Thanks.

W.

Just got some AM41's. Did 5 hours in the rain on the Surrey Hills on Tuesday and they held up very well. They have less grip than my Impact's but still plenty and they are lighter and more weather resistant. I would recommend them.

Likewise the SS pedals are excellent and you won't go far wrong with any of the Joe Blow pumps.

    Hope this helps

Edit - go half a size up on the AM41's if you can. I did and they fit perfectly.

If at first you don't succeed, spend some more money on kit!

AM41s, Nanos - and I'd go for one of the Twopeak Morphs... mini or mountain.

  • I'd go for the AM's. I use the AM45's. same as 41's but have a cleat. Worth considering if ever you might want to clip in (I havnt as yet though cos I'm a big girl) but shoes are in my top5 purchases.

I have the DMR v8's, and whilst they are robust, they are heavy, and narrow, and I will be getting the superstars for my new build.

Pumps? Get something with a metal or really robust connector unit. I have a topeak mini blaster or something and the top section is a bit naff for £20.

    Cheers
