New to SPD's. What shoes?

Evening all,

I've finally bitten the bullet and decided to go with SPD's after nearly 5 years of saying I would only ever ride flats!

I'm looking at a set of Shimano M520 pedals to get me started.

My question to you folk is what shoes would you recommend for around 40-50 quid? Ideally I'd like something waterproof but I've got a feeling I'd need to spend double or more for that?
