Cleaning fork sanctions

Hey folks.
I've just installed a new set of suspension forks and was wondering what to use on the fork sanctions?
Can I use wd40 or gt85 on them or do I need a specific type of lube?
Many thanks.

Just wipe them down with a soft cloth, put a little chain lube on them, pump them through a few times and carefully wipe off the excess and grime that will gather towards the top0

Don't use either of those. Clean them , use a bit of fork lube or Float Fluid, pump them a few times and wipe.
WD40 is a water dispersant, not a lubricant. GT85 is not much better.I don't do smileys.

Problem with chain lube is that it remains sticky on the stanchions and attracts dirt. The silicon sprays repel dirt so keep it clean.0

Stanchions, not sanctions.
And get some proper fork lube, other things aren't so good for the seals - GT85, WD40 etc will dry them out.0 -
Before adding anything I always compress them and wipe away the grime ring, no point in starting by adding a fluid that may encourage debris to get past the seals!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I saw guy in Halfords using 3 in 1 silicone spray to lube fork. Not sure how much good/bad that can do.0

Sprays are bad as the propelant can rot the rubber. not to mention the spray getting everywhere.
if you have to use a spray spray it onto a cloth and then use the cloth."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Some really cool tips thanks a lot guys
I'm gonna buy that lube online that Bennett suggested but until that gets here I have both a wet and a dry chain lube in bottles which I will use to see me through.0
