Will the above chainring work on a 10 speed set up? If not can someone recommend a 10 speed front ring 34t

All singlespeed specific rings work with all gearing setups, so long as you only run them as a single ring with a chain guide.

Erm...unless it's a single ring designed for the wider BMX chain when a standard chain may not fit.

But he wasn't asking about that, he was asking about the Renthal SR4.

Maybe what I meant to say was, all MTB SS specific rings work on all MTB gearing combos so long as you only run a single front ring.

Doesn't bother me, you're the one getting aggro. Thought it would have been relatively obvious really.

So what was not helpful, pointing out that not ALL SS chainrings would work as stated? Not being helpful would be to stay silent and let someone by a BMX style and found it didn't fit.

I'll deduct you a housepoint as no-one knew who you wer talking to making your post unhelpful!

I have used E13, Renthal SR4 and Truvativ single front rings with 10 speed, they all work well but the Renthal ring lasted longer than either of the other two.

There are some idiot on this forum. Someone asks for advice about chain rings and it turns in to some personal argument. Standard internet forum tossers I guess.
  • It's just because the starter needs to fill in blanks which are blank as they are obvious and denoted by the forum/what preceded it, done in the name of completeness, when actually it's being something else.

His question was pretty obvious and had a simple answer. He said 10 speed so where did the whole BMX chain thing come from? It's completely irrelevant to his question.

Another vote for e thirteen here, might as well save yourself £15 or so, can't see the Renthal ones outlasting them that much.

Oh and as for all this BMX nonsense, I'd like to think the OP has enough sense to realise that a BMX ring probably won't work with a 10spd setup. Also, as 4-bolt BMX rings are pretty uncommon, I'd be very surprised if he bought one by accident!

It came from someone answering the question that was asked, but also providing some extra information, and including some wrong information in the extra.

Quite a lot of the advice on here isn't BASAT-approved so it comes down to loud noises to counter the misinformation.
