Helmet cam. Used for possible collision.

Ok. Had a few CLOSE calls recently with guys clipping me with there vans etc. was thinking of getting a contour/Gopro whatever to try and record a possible event. Do any of you gentlemen have camcorders or do you think it's a lost legal cause?

You will be in danger of turning a helmet cam warrior and going out looking for incidents to film and upload. Plenty of evidence of this on you tube, just leave it.

Some people seem to ride as if they own the road or dont think as much as they could do quick enough so try anything except buy a camera which will only make things worse in the long run

Probably the best evidence you could present at a case. I was involved in an incident involving a motorcyclist who was successfully prosecuted on the video evidence we had from a camera.

Entirely up to you if you want a camera or not. If your having lots of close calls, then maybe worth getting one.

got the go pro 3 white and have bar mounted it for the moment. its a tough little bugger, and the daylight footage is pretty good, it does 1080p 25 frames a second (PAL) or 30 (NTSC) and then you can drop it down to 720p..... so technically its pretty good. in use its very reliable... but i've never had a near miss or a crash yet, i just use it for training to see where i am going right or wrong...

as for mounting it on a helmet, well i think i'd look a bit of a helmet with it on... they come with super sticky mounting pads but for whatever reason i don't think i could trust them.

A camera is a good thing when it comes to proving what happened. Accidents are far too often left as 'accidents' due to lack of evidence.

Also, if you were to try claim from the driver's insurer, you wouldn't be able to without evidence which would prove the driver over 50% in fault.

Sorry Bud but check out youtube and snowboarding and watch the wipeouts and there cams are still attached that's with the sticky pads try sticking one of yours to something you won't use and try taking it of after leaving it for five minutes

looks good but only 90 mins battery life seems a bit of a drawback. OK for most commutes I guess though - shame about training rides and events

As you mentioned, it is designed for commuting. At 78mm long, there ain't room for a bigger battery.

For longer rides the camera includes a cable to attach to an external battery. We will have a battery that extends the run time to around 5-6 hrs.

We have nearly as many pre-orders for this little camera as we do the Go-Pro Black

As long as it easy to see what happened you won't have any issue with it being evidence in a civil court. You don't need anything as sophisticated as a go pro and I would certainly advise something that is covert to avoid you getting robbed for you evidence.

Please tell me that video was only to show the cameras ability to record pretty good quality footage and not trying to highlight any 'issues' from drivers.
