Riding in the superb Surrey hills I managed to do a face plant in a huge muddy puddle oooh! This was due to two reasons. 1/ a large gnarly root and 2/ incompetence!
Undaunted I went around for a second try, same bit of root, same puddle, face planted and a dislocated shoulder to boot.
Thats my biking finished for the year. maybe ill get a darwin award?

As it's a posthumous award, if you do win it, a dislocated shoulder is the least of your worries.

Chin up, three weeks ago I broke my wrist while out at Surrey hills and have no memory of the crash. Got a Ti upgrade to my wrist though :-) no riding until next year for me either :-(

    Hope your shoulder heals soon!

Err that can't be good
  • No, fortunately no concussion, my lid took the brunt of the impact, just a bit got a bit scrambled in the tumble, could be worse.

Yes, that's the one - although you missed one vital component. Loudly proclaiming about some mechanical fault after you give up on said tricky feature

You're thinking of the mass of roots I imagine - where the big puddle is, and you can skirt to the left? Because yes, there are there, I'll give you that, and I imagine it's where 'the incident' occurred.
  • Njee - I was thinking the same place.

Yup, that's what I said - but if you take a heroic high line at rad gnar speed on the opposite uppy bit, you can hit the roots.
Obviously myself and the OP are rad to the power of gnar riders.
However you, sir, are just a pussy. Skirt to the left indeed.

Theres' a big'un comming across and off camber on the tempting "dry" line before you go round a bit too - wouldn't be surprised if that was the culprit.

Was closed on Sunday morning just gone for trail building activities, so maybe they've improved it a bit (hopefully some drainage)

If you lay face down in the puddle in the first muddy bit there's a gnarly old root with a sadistic look about it!

Embarrassingly on the dirt road just after yoghurt pots I think, my memory of that bit of the afternoon is slightly scrambled :(
