Hi, my bike got stolen and I have £600 to get a new one and I'm after some advice please.
I will be using my bike to cycle to work but also for the ocasional triathlon/race as well as recreational rides with mith my farther (about 20 miles).
My previous bike was a giant 4 defy, which I was quite happy with but I would maybe like something lighter?

Just to clarify, I don't know bikes anything technical goes over my head, I don't know where to start looking I'm just after a recomendation for the best bike for my budget.

Thankyou for your time/

  • Lighter does not equal better (it makes very little difference), and is particularly insignificant for the sort of riding that you are doing! Go to a bike shop and find one you like, if not just another Defy 4; if you liked it it seems like a very safe choice. :)

I doubt you would get anything signifcantly lighter for that amount anyway.
For the kind of riding you seem to be doing I would suggest you just go to the shop, see what they have and choose something that fits well and feels nice to ride.

At that price range I'd get a used bike, you'll get far more for your money.
