Morning Guys

I pick up the defy 2 on saturday from the lbs. I went for this over the allez sport.

Since ordering the bike I have read a couple of negative reviews and reader comments on its climbing ability. An odd thing to be put off by I know!

Can any Defy 2 owners let me know if this is b@llsh*t?

should I be reconsidering the allez sport again?

thanks

Tom worry not. How fast you get up a hill will have very little to do with the perceived difference between two similar bikes, your heart, lungs, power, weight (etc, etc...) are the determining factors. You have chosen a great bike and come the summer you will flying around like a 2 year old. Enjoy your bike and try not to compare it to others. The climb is a test for you, not your bike, (or anybody else and their kit). :D
Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?
  • I claim bullsh*t my Defy was great, I upgraded to a TCR Advanced, and I still dont climb any better.

    You will love it.

cheers guys, went for the defy 2 in the end and after yesterdays 20 miles the review that put me off was complete b@llsh*t.

I must be a strange body shape as I was inbetween a 56 and a 58 on a allez and didnt get on with it at all. On a test run the allez felt like it had to be worked hard, but the m/l defy fit my shape like a glove and seemed to glide on the road. Horses for courses i suppose.

the defy is more than adequate to get me started on the road and climbs really well (not that I have much comparison).

the Mrs aint happy though. 5 years she has been on at me to clear out the understairs cupboard so she can store her craft toot. It was cleared in 2 hours flat so the new bike can have a nice new home. She geniunely didnt talk to me all saturday night..... :D

strange though, the mountain bike that cost 3x more than the road bike has still been left to rot in the shed.

Looks like I have well and truly moved to the dark side!
