Hello,

I've got a set of Rockshox Revelation XX World Cup forks. The 150mm, dual travel version.

When giving the bike a quick once over, I noticed the was some play in the bushing. I've not used the forks much so it was a bit of a surprise.

I pulled them apart last night to see what was going on. there was a very small amount of wear on the stanchions that looks like where it has rubbed on the upper bushes.

I gave them a good clean and lubed them up as per the SRAM manuals. The play on the bushes has now almost completely gone.

I'm now not sure what to do..... do I?

a) just ride them and keep an eye on them and keep on top of the services.
b) send them off to TFTuned and get them to give them the once over and possibly re-bush or refit the current bushes. This will cost between £100 and £130 depending on what needs doing.

Any thoughts on the above or other ideas?

  • If there is wear on the stantions then you will probably need a new CSU when putting in new bushings. So I'd ride them and service them as required at home until they need a major service at which point new bushings and csu.
  • The wear is only marginal. I can see a slight change in the surface colour. I can't feel any difference with my finger when I rub it up and down the stanchions.

Lets face it, a new CSU and fork re-bushing would more or less right the forks off. It would cost £400+

If theres discolouring (patchy normally) just near the seals, I've heard of that being a problem they will fix under warranty. Worth a call I would say.

If the play has gone that it is unlikely there was any to start with. Are you sure it was not in the headset, or the brake pads/rotor moving? It can feel very similar.
  • Defo the fork. I could feel the play when holding the stanchion and lowers.

I have this, it's darker under the seals in a wavey erratic line. Not had any problems though. What is it?

Dont know, just seen a couple go bad at the seals, one guy on a FB group Im in has his back now. I will let you know if he gets it replaced. Not saying theres a specific issue, but it shouldnt do that either way.

If you could let me know that'd be great, if there's something the matter with it at least i'll be able to watch for symptoms.
