Need to get me + my bike and supplies down to London twice next year for cycling events. Whats the best way to transport? Can you take it on the train? Would I need a bike bag?

I can drive but really don't fancy the drive down, plus driving around London would be (I imagine) very stressful!

Train. Just make sure you book the bike on beforehand. No charge for the bike.

Driving all the way from Newcastle to London would probably be more stressful than driving in London - it's a fair way and London drivers really aren't that bad.

Having said that, I I'd catch the excellent East Coast service. It's quicker, safer and cheaper (if you catch the right train). Have a look at http://www.eastcoast.co.uk/on-board-our ... ts/cycles/ for details.
  • If you're going by train check the price of grand central from Sunderland as they are normally a lot cheaper than east coast mainline
