Le Terrier 2013 is now accepting entries on SiEntries.
Links to the entry system and details of the new routes on www.le-terrier.co.uk
Those who have ridden before will know all about the ride we proudly organise but for those who don't know about it:
Le Terrier is organised by a small group of cyclists from Lancaster CC and we have three routes to choose from covering 44, 66 & 104miles, all in the Bowland Forest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The routes are slightly different each year but still retain the best bits which have been in the ride since it's first running six years ago.
We are very proud of our event and the reputation it had earned and as cyclists ourselves we like to think we are organising an event we would ride ourselves.
We all do the organising for free but we also do this to make money but not for ourselves or the club but for charities. Next year the charities are Lancaster Homeless (LDHAS) and BayAquatherapy and to this end we do not have a budget for advertising but rely on our reputation and word of mouth. We would therefore appreciate it if you could copy/circulate to any other forum/notice boards you may be members of.
Thanks,
Bob Muir
(President - Lancaster CC)

+1 good event, and pretty hard. Last few climbs sting... (but it's certainly not the hardest sportive in the UK)Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

Just read that United Utilities have the Trough of Bowland road closed to all traffic.
At least they are doing the work now rather than next June
Last June they had the Cross O'Greet road just outside Slaidburn closed in the weeks leading up to the Le Terrier. I had emergency routes planned for all Le T courses but they finally opened the road (just for us  ) with a day to spare. Next year all three Le T routes go through the Trough instead of splitting at Marshaw and the first split is at Dunsop Bridge.0 -

Wow.
So the Bowland Beast was run by the same company, at the same time of year, started from the same place, and didn't happen in 2012. Hardly a stretch to reach the conclusion that the event evolved into the Ride With Brad is it?
As for the name calling here and on the blog comment. Well done.0 -

The "Bowland Beast" was first called the Pendle Peddle and has been running for the same number of years as Le Terrier. It was the first Sportive I did after becoming a permanently injured fell runner. They always struggled for numbers and were looking to "re-brand". They changed the name to a one-off "National Sportive" as few years ago when it coincided with the National Road Race Championships at Pendle (Barley). I stopped entering because of poor marshalling and profiteering. Brad Wiggins simply lent his name to it had never ridden it until the ride day last year. He was surprised at how tough the route was!0
