Have a look at Fietsroutplanner http://www.fietsersbond.nl/fietsrouteplanner/

It is in dutch but there is an english introduction and its easy to follow.

The "LF" routes (long distance paths) are excellent, paved, and are often independent of the roads, and take in the most attractive bits. I planned a whole tour of the Netherlands using this, downloading a gpx file for each day to use on my Garmin (combined this with an openstreetmap download). I reckon I had about an hour a day (or more) actually riding rather than navigating as I would have done prior to using the Garmin.

You can select whether you want LF routes (the best) or some of the smaller local (commuter) routes.

Nor I - but they would nt have to if just one of the "training sites" could import GPX files properly.
The problem is that GPX files are not editable without extra software to do this and it is not in the sites interest to provide it. Try googleing GPX file editor and see where it leads.

I always upload a gpx I have found online to GPSIES ( http://www.gpsies.com/ ) and do any editing there before downloading again. Also, Garmin Mapsource is good for editing gpx files.
