hello,
i am seeking out a bike for the winter but on serious budget. i have an eye on a Carrera tdf someone is selling for 250. my question is, are they are good hardy bike for the winter time. I really want to get some good training miles in over the next few months. any reviews good or bad appreciated,
Thanks,
Trevor

Any cheap bike is good for the winter time
Grit, rain water and dirty roads are not good for your bike so cheap stuff is cheap to replace.0 -
Halfords have them new down to £300 ready for xmas and also get an extra 10% with british cycling discount, i have 1 of these bikes brought last year and have had no issuses at all, you made need change the tyres for the winter period, i have gatorskins on at the moment, 1 last thing is the front gears are52/39 and rear 12/25 so can be a bit hard on the legs goin up steep hills(until i changed to a 11/28 on the rear) roadracer mudguards fitted on mine keeping a lot of the crap of it in this weather!!10

Isn't it a 26 on the rear? Always thought mine was best check now.
I bought mine new for 265 quid, and now at halfrods as above, 299.
Changes to mine, got rid of the A050 front mech and A0 52/39 crank and replaced with shimano 2300 Front mech and 2300 compact chain set 50/34
SKS mudgaurds for winter too.
Tyres are crap, and mine had a bulge in one so they swapped it for continental ultra sports which were miles better (but not really a winter tyre)0 -

Shimano2300 rear mech says largest sprocket 26T, does the 28 work ok?0
