The girlfriend has decided she wants one for Christmas, (and my old one with me getting the new one obviously won't be good enough), so any ideas where the best / cheapest place to get one is? Am happy to pay a small(ish) premium if it gets me good customer service as a back up should there be any problems with it...

Worth trying the Europeans - I found my Edge 500 cheapest on Probikeshop.fr, £153
They are doing the 800 for 380 Euros, or £306, not sure how that compares.0 -
have you considered the Bryton 50T (with HRM and Cadence)- won the Cycling+ review - does pretty much all the Garmin 800 does but no touchscreen and much cheaper (wiggle have best deal)Sensa Giulia 1050

not checked but my guess would be handtecFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

So it's actually comparable to the Edge 705 then.More problems but still living....0 -
Thanks guys - handtec / Amazon / pbk / evans are all much of a muchness right now, so it's off to quidco to find out who has the highest discount!
And whilst the bryton may be good, we have a few garmins of various types kicking round, so the back compatability of all the associated kit is quite useful.0 -

I'm just trying this, and waiting a reply
I want the 800 with OS map, and will get HRM and Cadence seperately. Best price I found for 800 trail bundle = £300. Go Outdoors it's £350. hoping I can get it for £270, so with HRM & Cadence it'll be £330Share The Road Event http://www.sharetheroadride.co.uk

GO have always price matched in the past for me, against Handtec and any other online UK retailer when looking at clothing.Cheers, Stu0

I managed to combine a couple of offers and discounts and have managed to pick up the 'performance bundle' with HR & Cadence for £269.
Don't think I could better that anywhere, so now off to figure out the best free maps for it!
Thanks for the help folks.0 -
I got the 800 with OS maps from Go Outdoors for £275 a couple of weeks ago - £300 price match to CRC - 10% + £5 discount card. I'm looking to get the cadence and hrm from Amazon as they seem to be the cheapest (Go Outdoors don't stock them)0
