Smart Lunar r1 rear light...can it be retro-fixed?!

Just bought a new rear light, a smart lunar r1. Great, effective light, until it hopped off the bike over a pothole this morning. Found the light and batteries and it still works perfectly but the back casing was M.I.A somewhere on the raod. Any ideas as to how to get a new back casing/fix it such a way as to be waterproof and mountable? Any help appreciated.

I had a similar problem. I got back from a ride and found the clip attached to my saddle bag but the light and batteries etc were gone. This is the second time this has happened to me with this make of light.
I may still have the clip part in my garage. I will have a look later.0 -
So therefore not "great effective little lights", as they have a habit of falling to bits!0

I've never had a problem with mine - if it's fallen off - you haven't clipped it in properly.
If you're left with the back half of the light on the saddle bag - then I'd think you might not have clipped it together properly ? I have to prise them apart with a knife ?
As to retro fitting - er. You could put it in a clear sandwich bag to make it waterproof and then use it as a backup in a mesh pocket on a bag or something - but it wont be as bright or face the right direction necessarily. I'm not keen on the lights on bags either - much harder to make sure they're facing the right way - a lot of lights are directional so you lose a lot of brightness if they've flopped down for example.0 -
I've not had a problem with mine either, unlike the cheap Chinese copies. The one on the saddle bag has a cable tie around it as it can't be held in its proper clip and there is a slim possibility that it may bounce off. The two clipped to the bike as Smart intended have given no issues at all so long as they're not in direct line of water spray off the wheel. As said above I usually need a key or something similar to prise the front from the rear.0

Thanks for the thoughts. Yeah, I do feel i'm to blame for the poor clippage technique, usual story with me, leave it too late to fit things properly and pay the price. I think I may have used an existing fitting to clip it to, rushed it, and then a Glasgow pothole has taught me a lesson. Think i'll get inventive with some insulating tape to get some sort of use out of it. May even go back home the same way and have another scan for the back bit.
Thanks guys.0 -
no problem with mine either, cheap and very bright lights imo0
