Haha take it easy COOL...dad. The guy is looking for some recommendations on hard tails other than what has been posted before, as he stated. Maybe the only difference is he doesn't want Decathlon or Voodoo__________________

I thought it was pretty clear he'd seen that thread but for whatever reason didn't fancy those bikes.
Tbh, you're the one coming across as having the attitude.
@ op - The ones in that thread are the ones people recommend at your price point because they offer the best vfm.
What don't you like about them? Be more specific than just "not for me". It's not particularly helpful when trying to find alternatives.0 -

Cooldad, I'm sure in real life, you're a pretty decent bloke, over the t'internet you come across as a right dick though
OK folks, the reason I say those bikes aren't for me, is probably due to the front forks, I'm no expert, hence why I ask so many questions (another coming up shortly)
The problem is I want the best kit I can get for around the money I have to spend, hence why I'm suggesting second hand. Ideally something like a trek 6 series or whatever is along those lines....I don't know what else there is along those lines.
So in answer to "what is mine" something with good air forks, and the rest half decent stuff as well...0 -
Nope I'm a cnut in real life too. You either got it or you don't.I don't do smileys.

I dont know what to advise but if you want a good fork then start with that and work up. Look at the bikes that have the kind of forks you want. Rockshox will probably offer the best VFM so you are probably looking at something like the Reba for XC or the Revelation for trails and AM.
You mention Trek 6 series so i am deducing you want XC.
The first thing that springs to my mind is the Boarman Pro. It comes in around the £500 mark second hand and has a really great spec for the money.
After that, its anyones guess!
Perhaps if you were more specific about what you want, as others have said it would be better? Look at the bike reviews here and find something you like and then perhaps ask about something within budget that comes close?
Thats the best i can suggest.0 -

Stay on topic from now on.
The Rockrider 8.1 is as good as it gets for £500, and has a great fork too. Many bikes second hand will not be as good as this, so I would at least go and see one in the flesh.0 -
