Cycling Holiday

Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but me a couple of mates have recently purchased road bikes. I live in Gloucester and my two mates in Taunton. I was wondering if anyone had any advice of any decent places to go on a cycling holiday?
It will most probably be for a long weekend so it couldn't really be too far from the South West, say a couple of hours drive. I was thinking maybe the Black Mountains or the home counties. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
James

The Black Mountains are great. Cycling Gospel Pass should be on every cyclist's to-do list, if you ask me. There are plenty of places to stay in Hay-on-Wye, some of them with good facilities for cyclists. I stayed here for a couple of days this summer and can highly recommend the place. It would also be good for exploring the Brecon Beacons.0

Haha! As much as I would like to go to those three places I think it is just slightly outside my budget, timescale and distance to drive. Apart from that it is very appealing lol
Great thanks, I will have a look at. It is a beautiful part of the world, as long as you get the weather that is!0 -
Try south of Shrewsbury, the Church Stretton area. The Shropshire hills including Long Mynd are spectacular.
Edit: Sorry that'll be too far North for you.Summer - Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 9.0 Team
Winter - Trek Madone 3.5 2012 with UDi2 upgrade.

That's a good idea, never though of that area. Why would it be too far north for me?0 -

Good point well made there, having said that my mate drives up to Gloucester and back most weekends to see his girlfriend so I'm sure it won't bother him too much.0 -
