strava help for a retard

Ok,i,ve installed strava on my phone but cant work it.I open the app and what do i need to do then.It says gps ok so guess thats a start but what happens next.Does data need to be switched on or does it run just off gps.
Does it cost using gps or is it free.
Once done a ride how does it get on the computer site.
A simple walk through as to a 10 year old would be good.

once strava is opened start the workout, you will see the timer start. Once done press finishride and save. If you have 3g on already it will upload to the strava database. If not it will store on the phone until u sync strava with either wifi or 3g connected. Simples.
