Hi,
I'm running some white M530's on my Soul and I stick some cheap dmr's when the gf wants to use it. I'd like to put some decent flats on for me to use and to not have to keep swapping the pedals (I don't want any flat one side, spd other side) what do you recommend ?
And I need some nice trail/mtb shoes for the flats ?
Thanks.

Good combination. They last longer than Five Ten's and don't act like a big sponge when it's wet.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Another vote for the AM's here. On DMR V8's currently but Nano's coming in the new year for new frame build!Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there

nano's and 5:10's for me0

I run V8 pedals with AM41's. Amazing...sometimes i cant even get my feet off they are that grippy!0

V8s are expensive, small, and not very grippy.
MG1s if you want light. Nanos if you want thin and wide. Job done.
For shoes, 5 10 Freerider are good, though not great in the rain- waterproofing them helps. Shimano also good. But you don't need to spend a lot, my old Vans were a bit soft of sole so not everyone would like that but they were great for grip and feel.Uncompromising extremist0 -

I used to think that, until someone on here posted pics of MG1s and nanos side-by-side and they're practically identical in width and platform. I have absolutely no idea how that works, but it does. It's one of the few things I've seen on here that properly blew my mind!0 -

The widest/longest points are more or less the same but the MG1s are much more cut away while the Nanos are squarer and have the pins out wider. End result is a bigger working area.Uncompromising extremist0

Nanos/AM40s have been good combo but I've started to take the araldite to my shoes in the hope they last longer.Trek Remedy 7

How does the paint last on these nano's ? Read some of them the paint chips off easy ?
Is it worth buying the upgraded axles ?
What's the difference between the nano thru and nano tech ?
Thanks.0 -
Considering the only ones that are painted are the white ones (or the magnesium versions of course) I'd say the paint lasts pretty well. Superstar anodize their pedals. The anodizing rubs off in heavy wear areas reasonably quick, but they are pedals, you'll not find a set that looks new for more than 1 ride anyway.
Nano tech pins screw into the body, nano through pins screw through the body (making them easier to get out when you whack them and damage the pins.
Upgraded axles are worth it if you think the cost is worth the weight saving you get. Far from an essential upgrade and you've got to put it into perspective against your riding and the value of your bike.0 -
Are the nano thru and nano tech the same shape/design ? I can't tell from the pics online.

Am a little late to the thread but have a look at the nukeproof electeons, I know they are plastic (thermoplastic) incomparision to the alloy pedals but they feel good under foot, are strong, light, all serviceable too,
One of the bike mags have had a pair for the past year and reported no issues Despite being plastic! ;-)Timmo.

Didn't like those myself... Worked with some shoes but not so well with others, because of the convex shape I think- the axle ended up taking the pressure off the pins.
I finally killed an AM40 shoe yesterday... That's been 2 years constant use, or to put it differently, pretty much exactly 3 times as much wear as it took me to kill my 5 10s. Not bad! (they've looked ruined for about a year, mind, but still worked)Uncompromising extremist0 -
So you killed a strong wheelset and bombproof shoes yesterday. Where the HELL were you racing man?0

Kinlochleven enduro madness But I think that was just coincidence, I probably did rattle the shoe off a few rocks but mainly they're just shagged out and old.Uncompromising extremist0
