C2W, £1k, road bike for fat bloke runs own business as sole employee and director, fancies new wheels to replace oversize C'dale CAAD8, tho' can't ride at mo' due to location

So?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

  • Planet X pro carbon,

Why do these tests never consider Planet X? They always get ignored but I can't see a better specked bike for under a grand

    So?

If you are the only director then C2W is irrelevant. It was only created so employees could get bikes from their employers at no cost to the employer, and the employee get the benefit of no VAT and also paying for it from their gross income not money they have paid tax on.
But if you own the company there is no point in setting up any kind of employee payback scheme, it's your company after all, so all you need to do is buy the bike as an asset of the company and then let yourself use it (as well as anyone else in the company which is a moot point). Also, the £1000 limit doesn't apply as that is only due to the employer 'leasing' the bike to the employee which requires a credit license.

because its old.. and specification isn't 100% of the story.

I picked the 2012 Giant Defy 1 last January and its been faultless all year the Bikeradar/Cycling+ review hits the nail on the head.
