Hey,

I have a newly brought Trek 2.1 2011/12 (105 compact) with Bontrager forks that has the space on the inside leg to take a sensor, which one should I get? I've heard somewhere that it has to be propriotry to bontrager, as there is some coating on the forks that will stop others working with it? The LBS hadn't heard of this, but I do want one to fit in the spacer provided so it's nice and flush and also hopefully improve the communication ( I had an old wired one on the old bike that didn't have good pick up so the speed and cadence sensing were intermittant at best) Also whats a half decent compatable wireless computer? I don't have a smart phone to run Strava, nor am I doing much at present (young family = little time on the bike) other than commuting 5 days a week (5 mile each way) all I'm really after I think is current speed, average speed, ride time/distance and cadence not too fused about heart rate monitor Couldn't be doing with strap around the waist!

  • I'm not sure of another sensor that will fit in the forks other than a Bontrager one.

You need the ANT+ sensor to fit in the forks, first and foremost. Then you need an ANT+ compatible computer. I currently have the sensor with a Bontrager node 2.1 computer, which does does everything you'd want. You can get a node 1.1 which is a little cheaper. I beleive Garmin and other brands have ANT+ compatibile computers, maybe someone else can shed some light?

    Check the Bontrager website.

Other than that its just get a normal wireless computer, but this wont fit into the fork. I had a cateye strada for years which ran just fine and only around £50.
