Anyone know where I can get the newer version of the SKS Raceblade Longs from?
I see plenty of shops stocking the older style with the "forked", QR holding attachement, but I'd like to try source the new, modified ones with the circular holding attachments

Are you getting confused with the pictures showing the mudguards with the fork attachment?
You get the other bit that goes around the QRs (without the springs) in a little plastic bag.
The guards attach quick and easy and are solid.0 -
I would think that by now all stocks of SKS Raceblade Long guards will be the new improved version.0

I suspect that most suppliers have the new version but have the older versions on their photos...might be worth a quick email before purchasing??0

Yeah, can't find any shops with new guards shown.
New ones have improved fitting hardware:

Merlin sent me the old ones a couple of weeks back. Now waiting for a replacement from SKS.0 -

How much worse in practice is the protection you get from Raceblade Longs compared to Crud Roadracers? I'm thinking primarily about under the brake areas and around the front mech where the Raceblades don't provide the protection that Roadracers do. Does this make much difference in practice?
Anyone used both who can comment on this? TIA.0 -

I don’t know much about the CRUD ones, but they seem to pass under the rear arch/ front fork crown uninterrupted, which is fine if you have clearance to do so. The SKS jobbies of course are designed for frames without this clearance?0 -
Having asked Merlin, I have been advised that the new version won't be in-stock 'til January so I expect this will be the case across the board

Correct.
I use Roadracers - leaving them on the bike almost permanently - and they give truly excellent weather protection. But, I have rattle issues that I can't really resolve.
Raceblade Longs have much better fixings, but don't provide the same cover around the brakes nor front mech. I'm wondering how much of a difference this makes in practice, hence the interest in hearing from someone who's used both and could comment on this specific aspect...0 -
Probikekit have the silver version in stock. I've just bought a black pair last week and received them within 48 hours and although the photo shows the old fastening, the guards actually came with the new updated fixing.

The new version is great compared to the old recalled version - that fork fixing bit was a pain in the back side. When it comes time to clean the bike I can get the guards off in a flash and I’ve already had one flat while they’ve been on - same deal – skewer out, click off guard, wheel off, fix flat, wheel back on skewer in, click guard on and off you go. When it’s pi$$ing with rain and freezing you want an easy life – these guards help big time.
Regarding the section round the brakes. They will get a bit muddy – if you’re cycling through mud – but it’s just a case of a quick skoosh of water and they’re clean again. Same goes for the front mech. The mud flap on the front guard is most appreciated.0
