Hi. I'm not massively serious about MB'ing but looking to start getting out weekly rather than every 2/3 weeks as I currently do. I'm looking to spend about £600 and have narrowed down to a couple of bikes - Cube Acid , Specialized Rockhopper or Cannondale Trail SL2 hardtail. Any comments on the 3 would be appreciated, or if you know of any others around the same price? Thanks

links to the actual bikes your looking at would help, its a bit impossible for advice to be given if we don't know the spec, wheel size or even which years model

At that price, avoid the Rockhopper it's very poor value for money.

Take a look at the Carrera Fury, Voodoo Hoodoo and relevant Boardman at Halfords or the Rockrider at Decathlon.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • I was just looking for a general overview of the difference between the makes, Here's the links though if you can comment on specific model types

What does that actually mean, and if you mean exactly what it says then it's meaningless to choosing one p[articular model anyway!

No details on the 'dale so you'll have to find a page with them.....

Cube is much better specced than the hopper but no details on the single most important component which is the forks.

Leisure lake should be ashamed of those dreadful pages, even the ruddy zoom doesn't work!
