  • Looks like a good laugh. Something you ride if you're local rather than something to travel for though.

I'll get Richie to put it on the list for the next time I crash round at theirs and freeload for a couple of days

I wish the rest of the county's councils would follow. Essex Council spends millions of pounds stopping people riding

  • From the quick ride we went on while we were there, I was massively impressed by all the work going on in and around Sheff for MTB. I like the idea of rather than dumping £5m-£10m into 1 massive trail centre, they're just doing 250k here, 500k there, and improving natural stuff, giving MTBs better access and stuff like this.

    ^this. Big sticks. Rant time.

I've been stopped on Clacton promenade by a PCSO as cycling along with number 2 on her balance bike was 'endangering the public' this is on a deserted 4m wide concrete path at 3.00 on a Sunday afternoon when it's about -5 and there's nobody about. Which is probably why the PCSO was there rather than looking out for people shop lifting/fighting/drinking etc in the town centre.

Also Essex spent £500k on a cycle path on the road into our town to avoid a hill that's only a danger because they won't enforce the speed limit. You have to cross the f**king road on a blind bend to get to it.

They could have spent £250k and put a bridge across a small creek so that there was direct access to Colchester, cutting the distance by about 5 miles and totally avoiding roads or changed the designation of a footpath that runs along a farm track to a bridleway for admin & consultation costs to pretty much do the same.
Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

    Who are you calling inbred?

meh...it looks like it could be fun if it was in town for somewhere different to ride. it looks a bit like forest of dean in the style of the sweeping berms and small jumps

Actually I cant complain really. My 'local park' is Swinley forest, who's trail center transformation at the hands of Rowan and the team has just begun, so I will have trails like that about 500m from my house soon, although admittedly without the elevation of Sheffield's 7 sisters.

Looks grand that. Shame to see all those lovely boulders used as trail margin not as features though.

I think I'll be heading up there soon - Pines is 30 mins drive away, Sheffield just over an hour... would be good to go somewhere with a hill!

Anytime you fancy a lap or two give me a shout.Only 15mins from mine. Show you some excellent in City riding also.

As far as Parkwood goes about 5 Laps is quite enough for a session. But you can push back up bits easy to learn sections

Pringled it in Morzine, had it straightened, snapped about 6 spokes and repaired them since then... After Penmachno at the weekend it's looking a bit the worse for wear...

Sounds like it needs a complete rebuild with new spokes, not cheap!

Well as the guy that trued it in Morzine said, it's not really made for the type of stuff I'm doing. New wheelset in the pipeline!

I could have a crack at trueing and tensioning them if you want, at least might be able to sell them!

£200?! I was thinking more of the SS £130ish deal!
The front I'll definitely be able to sell, as I've only ridden on it 3 or 4 times... Am popping to 18 on Saturday I reckon and see what Matt can do..

Don't put £130 wheels on that bike, would be a travesty! The £200 set are much better!

Well my fuel bill has just halved so I'll be able to pay the credit card off that bit faster!
