How would you spend a small fortune?

Well, perhaps not a fortune, but, thanks to the thieving b'stards who helped themselves to my bike last month, I do now have a voucher worth about £2,300 to spend at http://www.bikereplacement.co.uk.
What should I do with it?
I could go for a direct replacement for my old Supersix 105 and get some trick wheels for it, but I don't like the colour scheme of the 2013 bike - I prefer the Tiagra version, and the Ultegra might be just out of reach.
Otherwise, their range is quite narrow; Felts, Scotts, Giants, Spesh and Bianchis mainly. Oh, and a cheeky Cinelli Saetta...
Or I could just get 2,300 gels.

Personally, I'd go for the Giant Defy, largely because I had a similar budget and did go for the Defy! Probably another Six other than that...FCN 3 / 40

CAAD10 DA is only available in midget form, more's the pity. I don't like mud and don't have a cape. Might be able to top up, a bit.0 -

Sneaky bit of overpricing on the bike replacement site vs the normal one
£2500 on bikereplacement, £2300 on wheelies - same site.

Yep, there are much better bargains around, but I can't complain.0

Not surprised. Should think everyone's desperately trying to get through a week without being top of their own news programme.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

I'm sure it would. And from a technical perspective, it's right up there. No doubt about it. But they'll have to rebuild the ugly tree after that one fell out.0 -
If they are on the expensive side ask your insurers what they would give you as a cash settlement. They'll probably take 10% off as they obviously get discount on the replacement bike, but then you can go anywhere and probably get a better deal. Even buy used, just make sure it's not stolen.0

Had just assumed that would be out of the question (strict reading of the insurance policy ts&cs), but maybe I'll ask. Cheers.0 -
I thought you did extensive research and tried out lots of different bikes before you bought the Supersix? Why not just go for the same thing?Do not write below this line. Office use only.0

Because it's the wrong colour! :P0 -

And when you are riding it, you look at the colour how much? It's nice to have the right colour, though.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

TCR Adv is a cracking bike. Had a short test ride. It's all about speed. Goes like the clappers. Very similar to the Six in terms of geometry (I test rode two different versions of that too).FCN 3 / 40

Good point, it was actually a review of the 2 that make me think of it:

I'd look at changing insurers as well. Why are they not just giving you the cash?

Can't remember the wording, but it's new for old, init. If their supplier can provide a direct replacement, which in this case they can, then that's the contract I've agreed to. In principle, though, I agree - a cash settlement should be negotiable.
Might try and find me a Giant TCR I can test ride though....0 -
