Help suggesting new Crankset, Derailleur and Cassette

Right, So My 5 year old Rincon has been a pain in the backside just recently. When putting power on the chain (e.g: Standing up power pedaling) The chain constantly skips and feels like it comes off a tooth and if Im not expecting it I usually end up pretty close to misjudging it and falling off. Anyway I got off and gave it a look, when backpedaling the chain gets stuck almost asif its got a stiff link or all of the sprockets are stiff and wont rotate and the chain slacks.
Anyway it seems like one of those really annoying things where it takes you forever to find out what the actual problem is. So, I was thinking it was probably about time I gave the old girl an upgrade. Here's what Ive got:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=67252
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=27680
Here's the bike/specs:

(Also, would I need a new front derailleur too?)
All suggestions and help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks peeps,
Rhys

From looking at the specs I believe your current set up is an 8 speed so you need an 8 speed cassette, unless you plan on changing shifters. Also I don't think that crank will fit either as its for an external bottom bracket- you an an internal. The rear mech won't work either!0

Gotcha... This is more of a bottom ache than i thought it would be.
Which is the better brand overall? SRAM or Shimano?
Seen this already: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=31547 or http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=6388
I'll stick with 8 speed because i cannot be bothered with changing the shifters too, which are a brake lever and shift combo I think so it's less hassle to keep them as they are, plus I like them So that Cassette looks good right? unless you know of any other great 8 speed cassettes.
Just looking for cranksets now and rear derailleurs now. Thanks for your input and help btw!
EDIT: Ok need some help finding a decent crankset here guys

Go for the PG830 cassette, in the ratio that suits you best.
The crankset: do you need a new bottom bracket bearing?
I doubt you need a new derailer.0 -
Ok ill get that cassette on monday, and Im not sure most probably ive never changed the bearing in the whole time ive had the bike, would you not suggest a new crank? the one on mine seems very VERY company production line budget cheap and cheerful. and I was just going to get one just because i was replacing everything else.
Thanks for your input0 -
the chances are your chain is worn and you just need a new chain and cassette. That should be your starting point.0
