I've been usin the garmin 500 love it, I've been having issues with my speed accuracy, my old speedo was a typical one, I used to average 17-18mph with that rarely below 17, now wit the garmin I fin it hard to average anode 17mph, I notice the speeds r so off, it says I'm going 9mph and jumps to 15 and so on, how do I fix this, or has anyone else had this issue?

Are you using GSC10 sensor? If not then tree cover and large buildings can cause poor GPS signals. This will cause variations in the current speed but should not affect the average much. Are you sure your old computer was set correctly?
If you are using a GSC10 do not rely on the auto wheel setting. Measure the wheel and use the custom setting.
  • I have lost the magnet on the sensor so does not work, and don't know how to get replacement, I tried setting the wheel size manually, I'll see how that goes cheers

Setting wheel size only works with the GSC10. No magnet and speed is taken from GPS. Any spoke magnet will do Not many of mine are the Garmin ones and non of the crank ones are. all rare earth ones on the end of the pedal spindle.
