Wiggins effect redux

I am gobsmacked... this morning I have had some of the most courteous and considerate drivers on my commute that I can remember! As part of my route I do a few miles on twisty country roads and on three seperate occasions I had cars follow me for minutes waiting for a safe place to overtake. I had a bus driver coming up behind me stop to let me turn, I had a four by four let me complete a turn without entering my turning circle. Each of these, and more unmentioned I've met with a wave of thanks and I hearby resolve to shout at more RLJs.

I can only put it down Wiggins's (and to a lesser extent Carlton Reids) SMIDSY being in the news.

Oh, I'm sure we will always have problems, however I'm commenting on what I perceived as a notable improvement in other road users consideration of me as a cyclist this morning.
  • To redress the balance, my commute home yesterday afternoon was one of the worst ever - mind you, that was just one twattish WVM.

Some people just don't give a damn.
