bike upgrade

hi there i have a dilemma i own a 5 year old giant scr2.0 with tiagra all round which was a lovely bike for my lands end john o groats tour at the time :D problem is im planning the lejog again in 5 days :cry: should i buy a new speed machine or will the scr 2.0 do i dont mind upgrading but as with alot o folk at the moment money is tight

    Honestly if it did it before and was a "lovely" bike then it will be the same again.

    I don't think lejog has got any longer since your last one!

    I would say no based on 5 days not being long enough to get used to a new bike.

    Do you mean that you are leaving in 5 days, or that you plan to ride it taking only 5 days?
    Either way, a new bike is not necessary, just make sure that the existing bike is fine. Always worth having a good service done on the bike before doing a trip like this and plan to have it done a couple of weeks before you leave in case of any problems.
    I will be doing JOGLE next year at the end of May on a 1980's Raleigh with downtube shifters, the bike will be fine, whether I will be is a different matter :lol:
