Hi All,
I just got a Pro 2 evo wheel on a mavic 521, pretty miffed that I needed to buy a new block (one with an aluminum carrier) and now having spent £200 + i have to buy a QR skewer ..... just feels like I am being ripped off!
So plan to refund the wheel and get a better value alternative ...... please let me know alternate rear wheel options that you can use a standard shimano block etc.
Only proviso is that I need to get it from Evans as I have a voucher for the wheel so it can't be Super Star!
Really appreciate the help!

cheap as a normal cassette
but superstar or summit like that (mavic is the natural choice but the crossride you will get is no real comparison)
oh and you will need to buy tools to service the freehub as hope is no tools required.........
you will need to put your hand in your pocket at some point......... and the hope wheel is worth keeping and you should have a qr from the old wheel aready
unless you bought a wheel and dont have a bike........0 -
See what roval wheels they have. They're pretty good. Otherwise, if they do them, American classic.A Flock of Birds

You shouldn't need to buy a new block with an alloy carrier - you're just going to get some scuff marks on the freehub where no one can see them. Lots of people (I'm one!) have steel-bodied cassettes on a Hope aluminium freehub.
And a decent skewer such as a Shimano Deore is about a fiver.Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

You could have specified a stainless freehub on the hopes for your build, I do, They make more noise but the cassette doesn't stick to it. It also depends on how anal you are about the weight of stuff.Niner Air 9 Rigid
