Hi, looking for a new rear brake. My previous brake was an avid juicy 3, the brake lever and hose are still fine, its just the calliper part of the brake that is broke so am looking for a replacement... Will it only be juicy 3s that are compatible or can I look other models? Providing there avid or juicy etc

I think all juicys should be fine. It would be a miss match, but Merlin have an Elixir 1 rear on sale for £29 right now, the whole thing. Probably better than the juicy, but might not match colours.

Question - how do i know if this is this (http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/m ... ale-1.html) is the right bracket for my rotors. They're 160mm...
  • It's not, but you can use what you've got.

hmm the thing is the bracket i have at the moment is presumably the right size for the rotor, but its a shimano bracket and im not sure if you can use the shimano bracket on an avid brake. Theres also a creak that sometimes comes in the bike, which i presume is caused by this. So i need a new bracket really.
  • You said you had Juicy's above.

I did, just the mounting bracket is shimano.
  • Well then, if you're removing an Avid caliper and fitting an Avid caliper then it will work exactly the same as you have now.

Same mounting for Shimano and Avid for the same size disc anyway......
